Full commitment for full flavour
TMA offers a high level of expertise when it comes to private labels: we develop innovative dairy products for our customers or optimise existing recipes with great dedication and passion. Our experts in the respective departments contribute their experience and know-how to the product development process. This ranges from market research by our category management to recipe development, market launch and logistics. In addition, we develop suitable packaging and designs on request. In order to maintain our high standards, quality management controls the dairy products in our own laboratory.
Our services at a glance
From carefully selected and high-quality ingredients, we always create new taste experiences. There are two options when it comes to product and recipe development:
1. Development for existing private label products: We develop recipes for existing products sold by our retail customers, using current market requirements as our benchmark.
2. New concept development: We develop new concepts for dairy products for our business partners that are in line with current market trends and consumer behaviour.
In both cases, product development always takes place in close cooperation with the retail partner.
The aim of recipe optimisation is to always get the best out of our dairy products. Because it is not only the markets that are changing, but also the requirements of our consumers and business partners. That is why we constantly put our recipes to the test and evaluate whether they meet the high, changing demands.
Together with the experts from the development department, we take care of the appropriate packaging for our dairy products. This begins with the use of suitable materials. The packaging must be food grade and protect the product contents. In addition, it must be suitable for use on the filling line as well as for transport – and at the same time handy for the consumer.
Our packaging developers also take a close look at existing types of packaging. For example, what can be optimised in terms of recyclability, handling and functionalities?
Regardless of whether a type of package has been newly developed or improved, the focus is on safety: only after successful qualification and conformity for food is the packaging finally used.
An appealing design works up an appetite and arouses the consumer's interest. That is why we develop or revise the packaging design of our products on request – naturally in close cooperation with our business partners and in line with their product range style guides. First, our category management analyses the market, then our partner agencies get to work. The design experts know the industry and know what message dairy products use to reach their target audience. For new concepts, we conduct consumer surveys using different design drafts to best meet consumer expectations.
Finally, the customer is given several design routes to choose from before final approval of the packaging design. To conclude with, we check the food law aspects and prepare the private label for the international market if required.
Our category management experts have an eye on what is important for a successful market launch. They conduct market and trend analyses, analyse panel data from market research companies, research external sources of information and evaluate product ranges. They work closely with colleagues from sales and marketing – for instance when it comes to evaluating the wide range of information – as well as at an interdisciplinary level with different departments from the corporate group. They keep their in-depth industry knowledge up to date by attending congresses, conducting market studies and participating in workshops.
For our logistics, we make use of the synergies within Unternehmensgruppe Theo Müller: among others, the subsidiary Culina Logistics GmbH, a specialist for refrigerated food transport using national local and long-haul freight, is responsible for the delivery of the dairy products. Synergies are also exploited in the supply of raw materials and supplies and their storage. For example, we purchase fruit preparations to a large extent directly from our sister company, Alois Müller Naturfarm GmbH.
